About Helping Hand ...
Helping Hand is The Simpkin Project's fifth full-length studio album, a meticulously crafted work recorded independently in the band’s personal studios in Huntington Beach, CA. True to their roots, the band approached this album the same way they have with all their previous releases—handcrafted, choice by choice, capturing an organic and intentional sound. Like planting a tree, the music was nurtured over time, resulting in a body of work that represents their most refined and deeply expressive effort to date.

Recorded in the summer of 2022 and produced by Shawn Taylor of Hughes Drive Productions (HDP), Helping Hand showcases the signature sound of The Simpkin Project. Featuring live tracking by Sean Kennedy on drums and Ralph Arenas on bass, the album also highlights Phil Simpkin on guitar and lead vocals, Sergio Sandoval on percussion, and Shawn Taylor on keyboards and vocals. Andrew "Konker Spliff" adds his unique vocal contributions, bringing another layer of depth to the project. One standout track, Let It Go, has been a fan favorite since the band’s last album, and they are excited to finally release it to listeners who have long awaited its official debut.

Expanding their sonic palette, The Simpkin Project collaborated with a range of talented musicians. The brass section—featuring trumpet, trombone, and saxophone—adds energy to International Love, while Politricks is enriched with lush violin and cello arrangements, along with the distinctive tones of pedal steel guitar. The album also features guest appearances from former SP vocalist and guitarist Jules Luna on Let It Go, and Nathan Aurora of Iya Terra and Aurorawave on She Calls Me, each lending their signature style to the record.

In October 2024, the band released Politricks as the first single, accompanied by a powerful music video that set the tone for the album’s themes and sound.
With 10 songs and their instrumentals (20 tracks in total), Helping Hand stands as a testament to The Simpkin Project’s journey—remaining independent, uncompromised, and deeply committed to their craft. This album is more than just a collection of songs; it reflects resilience, collaboration, and the power of a helping hand when it's needed most.
